Highland Games: Tickets and Information

Thanks to all of you who supported the 2010 Glenmorangie Highland Games & Gathering!  We had a wonderful team of partners this year and The Caledonian Society and its members would like to give a special word of thanks first to our sponsors ~ without your financial and in-kind support our event would not be possible:

Title Sponsor ~ Glenmorangie Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The tasting tent was a hit!  We'll need a bigger one next year!

Official and Exclusive Beer Sponsor ~ Four Peaks Brewery and Kiltlifter Beers
Official Travel Agency ~ Stewart Travel * World Heritage Travel
BBQ Island ~ "Home of the Tempe Que & Brew"
Athletic Support ~ Iron Mind
Host Hotel ~Hilton Garden Inn
Children's Area Sponsor ~ Kids Celebrate Magazine
Games "Home Base & Official Headquarters" ~ Little Dealer Little Prices
Official Soft Drink & Water Sponsor ~ Pepsi
New Partner! Special Olympics
Official Print Media Sponsor ~ The Arizona Republic
New Partner!  VA Medical Facility
Facepainting Faeries from Western Gates Faeries Realm ~ the kids looked fantastic!

As all of you may know, on Sunday, 2/28 our event was closed due to the weather.  Forty-mile-an-hour wind gusts and several inches of rain caused some "issues" to say the least.  (If you'd like to make a donation to our clean-up cause, please donate:

We'd truly appreciate your support.  When you make a donation to The Caledonian Society of Arizona we will provide a tax receipt.

Another round of applause and heartfelt THANK YOU goes to an incredible group of Games Commitee volunteers who worked all night on Saturday and Sunday to clean up the damage.  Thank you for getting out of your warm beds at 12:30am and making your way to the park (which incidentally looked like a scene from The Wizard of Oz with tents flying and winds swirling!)  You know exactly who you are ~ and it we appreciate you so much.  Thank you.  It took a team of people, and we had a hardworking group of area chairs this year who did an incredible job.

Saturday's attendance was proof-positive that this would have been a record year for us!  But one can't control the weather, so we're grateful for where we are and we're well on our way to planning 2011!  Mark your calendar for the Games on February 26 & 27, 2011.  The gates will open at 9am and close at 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday.  Stay posted to the web site for more information as plans develop.  In the mean time, please feel free to contact our Public Relations office with any questions you may have about next year and also if you'd like to serve in any role on the Games committee.  We need more hands please!   If you have any fundraising ideas or opportunities, or if you are interested in a corporate sponsorship, or would simply like to become a "Champion of the Games" you can make a donation in any amount and have your name listed on our website for next year!

Thank you!

The 47th Annual Arizona Scottish
Highland Games and Celtic Gathering
February 26 & 27, 2011
9 am — 4 pm

Steele Indian School Park — MAP
300 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ

The Caledonian Society of Arizona is proud to host the 46th Annual Arizona Scottish Highland Games & Celtic Gathering! Welcome to our new location this year. Steele Indian School Park promises to be a larger, more convenient spot to present this multi-faceted event!

Our new home is located at 300 E. Indian School Road in central Phoenix. FREE parking abounds at the VA Hospital, just across the street! Mark your calendar! February 26 & 27, 2011! Gates open at 9am and close at 4pm both days.

The planning is well underway! Our Games committee is busy creating a fun-filled weekend of Scottish activities for all to enjoy! You don’t have to be Scottish to attend our Games. We welcome everyone and hope you’ll share with us about your cultural background too! Visit the Genealogy tent and trace your own family roots. There will be so much to see and do! Artists will entertain throughout the day with their traditional and modern Scottish tunes. The wee lads & lassies area boasts Celtic arts & crafts, sports & bouncy “moon” jumpers both days. We will also showcase competitive highland dancing, pipe bands, heavy athletics, country dancing, re-enactment and vintage British car exhibitions.

If you’d like to help plan this event, please contact Jackie Carro at (480)495-8924. A big thanks to our committee chairman and the many volunteers and helpers for making this event a successful one. Without their many endless hours of help and support, this weekend would not be possible.

On behalf of the Caledonian Society of Arizona, welcome to our website — we can’t wait to LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
